ironkey It’s undeniable that it’s the most secure flash drive in the world. Just simply by its name, it sounds like an unbreakable iron! This IronKey flash drive makes use of military grade AES hardware-based encryption that the encryption is handled by its IronKey Cryptochip. The encryption keys are stored inside the drive, and you need to provide a password in conjunction with the keys in order to access it.The drive will go for self destruct if you failed consecutively for ten times of entering the correct password. Its self destruct is even up to the extent of destroying everything on the drive and the data is completely unrecoverable.

To me, it’s simply too strict for its security especially for the forgetful ones. You know, you’ll start panicking when you’ve tried more than 5 times getting the password wrong. And it’s simply pretty easy to hit the ten due to your panic. I wish there would be at least one more chance to reset the failed attempt count before reaching ten. So, you could take a break first, calm down and try your best to recall your password and then try again. The flash drive also includes features that lets you log on to the company website to access a program which can turn Firefox into a secure stealth surfing application. Other security features included are a “potting” technique that fills the innards of the key with black goo, waterproofing and preventing hardware crypto-analysis.

xbox-360-hd-dvd Microsoft introduced its HD DVD player for the Xbox 360 last November for a price of $199 USD. The Xbox 360 launched without a high definition disc player, so the USB-based HD DVD add-on gave Microsoft the additional firepower necessary to combat the PlayStation 3’s standard Blu-ray disc drive.

Through the end of June, Microsoft had sold over 155,000 of the HD DVD add-ons and proclaimed it the “biggest-selling accessory” ever for a console.

Now, Microsoft has seen fit to reduce the price of its most expensive accessory for the Xbox 360. Effective August 1, the HD DVD add-on will retail for $179 USD. In addition, customers who purchase the peripheral between August and September 30 will also qualify to receive five free HD DVD movies.

“With the price reduction to $179, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player continues to be the most affordable way to enjoy high definition,” said Microsoft’s Jeff Bell. “From the beginning, we set out to offer Xbox 360 owners an unrivaled high-definition experience, with a choice of optical discs on the HD DVD format and digital downloads through Xbox LIVE Marketplace — both of which have a selection of the best content Hollywood has to offer.”

Microsoft will highlight the HD DVD add-on price reduction by offering the movie “300″ on demand in HD beginning August 14 through Xbox LIVE. Also on deck will be a free download of the season one pilot of “Heroes.” “300″ and “Heroes: Season 1″ will also be available on HD DVD.

prtege-R500 Toshiba unveiled a new set of ultra-portable laptops that they claim are the lightest and thinnest in the world. And at a scarily-light 1.73 pounds on the R500-S5003, slimming things down by ditching standard HDDs for flash-based Solid State Drives, these laptops are on the cutting edge of portable computing.

The Ultimate Ultraportable
With its ultralight design and stunning silhouette, the feather light 1.72 pound*† Portégé® R500 Series is the transcendent expression of executive mobility and style. Offering the world’s lightest* widescreen 12.1″ notebook PC in one configuration, and the world’s thinnest widescreen 12.1″ notebook PC with an integrated DVD-SuperMulti drive in another, the Portégé® R500 Series represents an uncompromising synthesis of portability and productivity that’s meticulously engineered for the demands of executive computing.

Of course, you’ll need to make some sacrifices to get your laptop down to a fighting weight of 1.72 pounds. For one, you’ll have to say goodbye to any disc drive at all, as the lightest model doesn’t have one. You can hop up to the R500-S5004, which includes a DVD-SuperMulti drive, but then you’ll add some weight and some dollars. My choice would definitely be the lighter, cheaper R500-S5003, which runs with no moving parts whatsoever. You’ll pay dearly for these svelte machines, with the S5003 costing about $2,700 and the S5004 about $3,000, but they’re a great look at the future of laptops.

toshiba-8gb   Diving further into the Windows ReadyBoost market, Toshiba is planning a new line of its TransMemory USB flash drives. The line, called U2K, will consist of 1GB-8GB models due out in October and a massive limited edition (which probably means producing them is so expensive that they need to test the market with a small initial batch) 32GB model that should drop in December. What would you do with an extra 32 gigs of system memory?

Putting your plans into action will cost you a small bundle this winter: $200 for the 8GB model or a whopping $665 for the 32GB version.

rc-car    What an amazing RC car that simply goes against the law of Physics. It’s a wall climber. While playing the AIR HOGS Zero-Gravity RC car, you won’t face those common obstacles that you face with other RC cars, such as those annoying doors and corners or having no space to drive it around. As you can simply make it climb vertically, so you have plenty of space on the walls. The AIR HOGS Zero-Gravity RC car is equipped with the kind of advanced technology, which there is an internal motor to create an air pocket with a downward force. When the car reaches 45 degree angle, the internal fans kick in, drawing air under the car and creating a suction like effect that allows it to grip to the walls.

I think the theory behind is simple, which it makes use of another law of Physics to challenge the other. I guess I’m still little fresh with some Physics. It should be making use of Bernoulli’s principle to challenge the Newton’s Law of Gravity. While the car is on the wall, the faster flowing air under the RC car simply exerts less pressure on the top surface of the car, which in a result creating a suction effect that sticks the car to the wall. It’s definitely great if this technology could be applied to those high-street autos. But I think, it’s kind of hard to create the suction effect that is strong enough to overcome the massive body of those high-street autos.

d-link          D-Link has announced its new ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless USB kit which named as D-Link DUB-9240. As you see in the photo, the kit that includes 4-Port Wireless USB Hub is also comes with an adapter to work with the non-wireless USB equipped PCs, which aimed to allow consumers to connect USB devices including USB printers, scanners, game controllers, flash drives, external hard drives and digital cameras to their PCs or notebooks without wire.

“The high data rate of the Ultra-Wideband wireless technology will enable consumers to transfer audio, video, and large data files from USB peripherals to their PCs more efficiently,” said AJ Wang, chief technical officer of D-Link. “We’re proud to be among the first to receive Certified Wireless USB status and be able to offer a solution that is fully compatible with upcoming Certified Wireless USB products.”

With new Ultra-Wideband standard, the USB kit can support the wireless connections at distances of up to 30 feet and higher data rates up to 480 Megabits per second.

The D-Link DUB-2240 Wireless hub and DUB-1210 wireless adapter will hit the market in Q4 for $119.99 each, while the DUB-9240 Wireless USB Kit costs for $220.
